The Shimano Baitrunner OC is a powerful, durable and versatile free-spool reel with modern technology, which feels at home in both salt and fresh water. Originally developed for the American saltwater market, it quickly made a name for itself among European anglers due to its robust construction and reliable function. Whether carp fishing, catfish fishing or targeted pike fishing - the OC impresses with power, control and amazing versatility, suitable for ambitious beginners as well as experienced specimen and sea anglers.

Despite its saltwater origin, the Baitrunner OC is a fantastic freshwater reel. The available sizes from 4000 to 12000 cover almost all areas of free-spool angling. The smaller models are ideal for targeted carp fishing or larger bream, while the larger variants (e.g. the 12000) have a huge line capacity and pull force - perfect for catfish, large carp or heavy sea fish such as conger or cod.

Inside, the reel impresses with solid Shimano technology. The housing is made of proven XT-7 composite material, which is lightweight yet extremely stable. The combination of the Shimano Baitrunner free-spool system, the precise Varispeed line laying system and the AR-C spool with its special, beveled spool lip ensures excellent casting distances and a clean line pull - regardless of whether mono or braided line is used.

A real highlight is the new Propulsion Line Management System - originally used exclusively in the Stella series, now also integrated in the OC. This five-part system optimizes the line run from the spool and therefore allows much more precise and longer casts with a minimal risk of tangles.

Made for the toughest uses

Particularly in the OC series: The Shielded A-RB ball bearings, which are saltwater resistant and sealed. They protect the reel from corrosion and significantly extend its life - a crucial advantage for anglers who often fish in demanding conditions.

The ergonomically shaped crank handle is coated with a non-slip coating - ideal when it gets wet and slippery. And thanks to the new Easy Access Oil Maintenance Ports, maintenance is particularly easy: A small opening in the housing allows uncomplicated lubrication of the mechanism without having to completely disassemble the reel.

Finally: The new free-spool mechanism

A much-requested innovation: The free-spool lever of the Baitrunner OC now moves towards the reel body when cranking - a small but important improvement that makes handling during reeling much more intuitive. Shimano has listened to the wishes of its fan base and delivered.
